Please comment below on the following questions........... Why do people sometimes hurt each other? How do they justify doing so? How can you connect the animals in the story to REAL life or the novels you are currently reading?
People sometimes hurt each other for one primitive reason that has no apparent cause: Hatred. Although it may seem hard to some, a handful of people at least apologize to make up for what they did; however, it's a very small handful who do this... Anyways, most people who would apologize rarely hurt people. The animals represent people: The people who are being hurt [by bullies, Nazi, etc.] and the people who watch and do nothing and say, "I'm glad it wasn't me!"
Ieople hurt animals because of abuse, they just want to, or they just think y not. Even though i can't tipe as much as tanner can. I still think it is wronge to hurt animales.
People sometimes hurt each other because it might make them feel better, or they could just be cruel people. Most of the time there is no excuse for hurting someone. They could justify doing this by maybe saying why they did it, even if they know that what they are saying is not true. The story can be connected to real life by how we see bad things happening all around us everyday but we do not do anything about it (most of the time). All of the animals could have helped the animals that were being captured in some way, and Little Rabbit discovered that at the end of the story.
It seems that people only hurt one and other because of hate or for no reason at all. They probably think, "This is okay because it's fun," or, "They deserve it," but it's just not right!
Often bullies can be different. Sometimes bullies have a difficult life at home so they take their anger out on other kids.Bullies are mean to a certain extent. Where as it seems like bullies at high schools and colleges seem to be mean to a point of illegal harassment. When it comes to people like the Nazis, they can be considered real life bullies except they are easily willing to kill whoever their leader tells them to. In Terrible Things the animals could have banded together, but like I said in class, think of it realistically thousands of Nazis marching through your city wearing intimidating uniforms and carrying weapons you've never even seen before. Would you try to defeat them?
People sometimes hurt each other because of hatered kind of like what Tanner said. People justify by tring to convince themselves that they're better than them and other reasons. Like the animals in the book. Once one creature was gone they were glad it wasn't them and then they tried to convince themselves that it was better without them. Bullies probualy do the samethings. They bullie someone because they hate them or they think that they're better. Then they try to convince themselves that they were right and that they're better.
People hurt each other because maybe if you hurt someone, it makes you look powerful. It seems it gives a cruel person satisfaction to see someone hurt. Just because someone is different does not mean you have a right to get rid of their "kind".
Sometimes people hurt each other to cover up their own flaws, and make THEMSELVES feel better. Sadly, this does NOT improve your faults. In fact, it makes you an even WORSE person for doing that. The people who enjoy hurting someone else is what I call cruel!
People like bullies hurt other people because they probobly were abused by their family or friends and they feel that if they don't they will get bullied themselves, so I agree with Alexis, they do it to make themselves feel better.
People hurt other people because, maybe, they don't feel confident about themselves. The story is like Anne Frank and her family life goes on normal until someone has to go to a concentration camp then they go into hiding. Just like the rabbits at the end of the story they're like, "Oh nothing will happen to us because we're the rabbits." until the terrible things come for them then then little rabbit hides.
People can be mean or hurt peoples feelings on purpose because they want to "be popular." To hurt someone's feelings is just a "bad habit" that some people have to "harass" younger people. But to "harass" older people is even worse, because all that the "bully" wants is attention, and they feel almost jealous about how the "new kid" is being treated. Jealousy can cause some very deep thoughts that may cause death. Back to the point Just because you are a bully doesn't mean that you are just that much more popular, or you are going to get that last vote for being the President of the school. All it means is that you are mean and jealous!!! And being jealous is a HORRIBLE thing!!!!!!! :(
I think people hurt each other because of wrongs done to them in the past. This can be anything: abusive parents or relatives, hurtful friends, a horrible tragedy, it could be anything. To reduce their hurt and sadness, they hurt other people, to put them through what they had gone through. I think they could justify this by creating faults for the people they are mistreating. Another reason they could bully is because they have low self-confidence: they maybe are not very smart, so they use the brawn they may have and use it to intimidate other people and boost their self-confidence. Even to their friends, which I have seen done before.
There are many reasons someone might hurt another. Hate, greed, and power are some main reasons. However, there are less likely reasons, such as patriotism, love, and standing up for whats right. Those are reasons people might hurt one another. However, there are fake reasons to justify something. For hate, they make up excuses about why this is right. For greed, they say they deserve it. And for power, they say, " I want power, and this what happens to those wh get in my way. In a way, the animals represent the nations of the world. We don't get along. We only help eachother when we have to. And one day, a force will rise that we cannot defeat alone, who will pick us off one by one until no one is left, and we will not band toghether because we are glad it has not come for us. That is the world in its current state.
I also think people hurt other people because things that had happened to them in the past. Being bullied can send a bad message and the person that was bullied can bully others only because they had been bullied themselves. Jealosy can cause others to become a bully and sometimes it can go too far and someone might get hurt. Bullies might feel they have more power when they bully or some might just take it out on others for reasons such as a bad day or a horrible tragedy that has accured. When people see others do somthing better than they can they might find the others faults to make them feel stronger and better. Bulling can send a bad message to others and somtimes it can cause them to be a bully to others.
People hurt each other for various reasons. Maybe ti's because they have been hurt in the past or maybe because they think they are making justice, but for any reason, it's still just not right. And they know it. Sometimes they say to themselves or to others that it was the right thing to do or that they shouldn't have done otherwise because this and that. I, of course, can connect it to the Holocaust, but not my book quite yet. I know I will be able to soon.
I think people hurt each other because what has happened in the past. They probably think that if they are hurt like at home then they can hurt other people if they want to. Bullies may feel like they have power if they can do whatever they want and make other people do stuff they don't want to do. They probably have issues at home and have to " unleash" whats inside of them. Bullies may hurt other people to make themselves feel good.
I thik people bully others because it makes them feel better because they probaby don't have anything better to do. Or that fills an empty hole inside them and they think bullying is the answer. A lot people bully others because of hatred they have for them or its because they think they think your a nerd your not cool so why nt pumble you...
People hurt each other for lots of reasons. For some it is hatered but for others it is for weath and power. The animals in the story are symbols for Jews. The terrible things are the Nazis. Most people say they would stick up for someone that is being bullied or who are getting hurt. But if you WERE in that situation you might change your mind.
People mostly hurt and bully each other to feel better and more confidient about themselves, as if making up for their self estiem. These people try to make it seem right by using fake reasons to hurt someone , like they were too “greedy” or “inhumane”. By falsely accusing the person of being “mean” or “dumb” they’re reassuring themselves that they are not what they are accusing their victim of being. In, The Terrible Things, how the animals acted some what reminds me of how some of the non-Jewish people acted during the Holocaust. The animals didn’t try to help the other animals that were being trapped, they were just glad that it wasn’t them being carried away. During the Holocaust some of the people disapproved of the Jews and didn’t try to do anything about it, they just stayed out of the way of the Nazis. Like in The Terrible Things, the Nazis didn’t just “carry away” Jews ,or birds they came back for other people, or animals , the ones that didn’t think it could happen to them. However, not all people were like the animals, there were of course the heroic ones that acted like how the animals should have.
It's kin o hrrifying but I understand why the animals didn't stick up for each other. They wre afraid of The Terrible Things. That most certainly doesn't make it right to blow people off, but put yourself in those animals' position.
I think it is in our human nature to torture or hurt some people have different levels of torturing though. If someone (or country) hits us our teases us we have to do something about that. It is just something natural, in a bad way. We all have experiences, of when your Anger Meter just overloads and you can't take anymore usually this comes from siblings :) That behavior can be easily connected to "The Real World" where the country's Anger Meter just can not hold anymore so it bursts and guess what happens we start a war of some kind. It's just in our blood and in our body. We just have to act if your Meter overflows:( We can never be civil and have justice one time it's 9/11 the other shooting Mrs. Gabrielle Giffords so on and so on. The anger and frustration will ALWAYS be there. I think I have wandered off topic......
People hurt each for power, in my opinion. At least, during the Holocaust I think that's what it was about. In Terrible Things, the animals talk about why the Terrible Things did what they did, and they did because they could. I think, they did it because they wanted to show they had power. This relates to modern day life. IN the past, some people may have done something just to show they had power.
People hurt each other because of hatred, to gain wealth, power, or self confidence. Events that had occured in the past may also have a huge impact on how bullies treat other victims. In Terrible Things, the animals represented people, but mostly the Jews during the Holocaust. Like the Jews, none of the animals stood up for their friends being taken away. Although it wasn't very realistic for the Jews to try to help the other Jews, considering what was happening to them, but the little creatures in the clearing surely could have tried to do something different. In the book I am currently reading, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Bruno has just met a boy from a concentration camp, and has so many questions to what all of the huts and soldiers are even there for. Bruno's father probably has an important role in the camp, considering he is now called "Commandment" by the soldiers and has a new suit he is very proud of. Related to the question, all of these soldiers might be hurting the Jews for helping Hitler, along with trying to support THEMSELVES for their own power. To justify doing so, the Nazis, though mostly Hitler, blamed the Jews for the limited amount of houses, shops, schools, and are the cause for the Great Depression.
I don't know why the Terrible Things were mean and took the animals away, but maybe they had a bad past with animals. The animals could've been an annouce to the Terrible Things.
