What made me happy at camp....

Skit night, a boat ride, reaching the top of the rock climbing wall: What was your favorite activity, time, sight, "whatever." Did you learn anything about yourself? Did you grow as a person?
Now that it is a week away, you may have different perspective than you did last week. While it is hard to pick just one to write about, try to do your best to be specific as you comment. Feel free, then, to add a list o' memories after a couple of specific sentences about one part of camp.
I love skit night for Teacher Reasons. You were having fun! Your skits were creative, AND they made sense. When I visited = girl = cabins before bedtime each night, your playing around felt like a delightful, controlled slumber party. The boys' mismatched shoe statement made In Honor of Malachi caused me to brush a tear away.

My favorite part about camp was spending time with friends. Not all of it was good, but the best was getting to know Cassidy. I know her way better than I did before camp. We got into a little argument, but now we are all good. I hope our friendship from camp will last through out the year and next since we are going to the same middle school.
ReplyDeleteIt was a really cool and fun time. My favorite part was skit night and quiz night. The "Nerd Herds" skit was really funny. Quiz night was fun because we got to spend time with our classmates and trying to get the question correct.
ReplyDeleteI loved our cabin. I really really really had fun playing mafia with everyone. It was one of the best times this year.
Camp was a ton of fun!!! In fact, I liked it so much that the weekend we got back from camp my parents took me to Yosemite. I can't really say I have a favorite part, though. Skit Night and Quiz Show Night were extraordinarily wild, so I guess you could say that was ONE of my favorite events. The Violet Cabin was so crazy (especially during shower time) and we were SO loud singing the Wishy Washy Washer Woman. I'm glad that I was in a cabin with some of my closest frinds, and got to know a lot about people who I didn't know as much about before. Madeline, in particular, was louder than anyone thought she could be. I'm not saying nearly as much as I want to say, but some of my other highlights are on my blog. 6th grade camp, a week I'll remember for the rest of my life. :^)
ReplyDeleteIt was interesting. I though more of or seven buildings.A mess hall. a restroom, a shower, and a class room. I loved skit night. O.M.G. "McVader" awesome. Philip saying " I am your wife and children. Just kidding." so funny. Mafia I just learned it at camp but man it's fun. Even Mr. Lewis played. So fun. The food great. I really got to know the people in my cabin. I loved the boats at free time. I went with, Tanner, Philip, Logan, and Patrick.
ReplyDeleteI loved camp. Although there was some drama in our cabin, I really enjoyed getting to know everybody, in my cabin or not. I really enjoyed Skit Night and The Spin and Win Quiz Show. I also enjoyed all the time we had to spend in our cabins learning about each other. I was told that i won't like it and they were right, I absolutely LOVED it. If I could do it again, I totally would. :) :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteI probably would have to say that my favorite part was skit night. It was so fun to just create a random story, and to act it out. I really like coming up with ideas, but sometimes I have a little trouble putting them into words. Anyway, watching other peoples' skits was fun as well. I really just like a good laugh.
ReplyDeleteYou know Grace, if you failed sixth grade you could repeat it. Or would you just go back to your homeschool. Anyway, you probably wouldn't do that.
ReplyDeleteMy personal favorite times was shower time. Not because we got to take showers, but becuase it was a sort of downtime between everything. This is where we got our skit toghether( thanks to Anthony and Andrews ideas), where we screwed up Mafia for the ifinitumth time(is that a real word?!), where I really got started on my book, and where we really got to know each other. P.S. It was a great expierience, but I think I'll just visit.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of camp was, like Michel, shower-time dun nun nun nun tis tis. Anyway, it was really fun not only because of the showers but also the break from camp work. After showering, we would either goof off or practice our skit. It was immensely fun and enjoyable especially The Loggers Jambere.
ReplyDeleteI LO♥O♥O♥OVED camp. I had an awesome cabin with an awesome cabin leader (Mr. Dueck, known to Cabin Aspen as "Dad"). Just like everyone else, I loved Skit Night and Quiz Show (< even though we had to wash dishes). Aspen put so much effort into both of those events!I loved the boats and archery, and of course I loved Loggers' Jamboree, though I pretty much only did the Ladder of Doom (< 2 time Champ!)I thought the classes we took were great (if you'd like to see my full description of the classes and events, check my blog). I got so used to the camp schedule that it took me a while to adapt to the norm.
ReplyDeleteCamp was so much fun!!! I had a awsome time! My favorite part at camp was going on the rock your wourld class because I have never seen so much lady bugs in one place before. I also loved skit night and quiz show because it was so much fun.
ReplyDeleteWow, I loved camp! All of the classes were lots of fun. My very favorite part of the whole week at camp would probably be the quiz show or the Loggers Jamboree. Skit night was fun too. Shower time was fun because we had time to just relax in our cabins, practice our skit, or play a game.(mofia) The chance tickets were great because you could win prizes. Another great thing was the food! It was much better than I expected. I had a very fun week at camp.
ReplyDeleteCamp was so amazing!!! My favorite part of camp would have to be quiz show night. I think I was laughing/talking so much that I almost lost my voice! It was weird because the next day I got a cough. I loved the staff's outfits and I wish I could start camp week all over again!
ReplyDeleteCalvin Crest was so awesome!! My favorite part of camp was between spending freetime with Marissa and Martha and meeting new people. Our cabin was so much fun and crazy! My favorite part of classes was probably seeing Mrs. Stopesade shove mugwart up her nose!Quiz Show,Skit Night, and everything else was so much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteOMZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCamp was an amazing experience for me. Even though it was a week without TV, I managed. One thing I loved about camp was my cabin and cabin mates. I never knew Madeline could get sooooo crazy!!! :-) :-)
But, spending time with my best buds was awesome. We had as much fun as we could have, screaming on the top of or lungs, "Wishy Washy Washer Woman". Our cabin leader, Mrs. MrKaich, was amazing. The package that Rachel and I got, was filled with candy and treats for our whole cabin. Mrs. MrKaich made that for Rachel and I because we didn't get any letters. Another thing I enjoyed at camp, was the activities. The rock wall was fun, and so was the paddle boats. The best thing at free time, in my opinion was sitting in the deck outside the dining hall just talking to friends. I guess the whole point of camp was supposed to go for the education. :-) So, I guess I should mention the classes... My favorite classes was survival and orientation. Survival was amazing, we got to build our own shelters, and sorta make fire. Orientation was fantastical!!!!! Searching for the colored cards, and using the compass. Now, I'm going to get back to quiz show night! That was so much fun. Even Anthony and Madeline were in party mode. While we were having fun, we were still reviewing the stuff we learned. Loggers Jamboree was also a blast. Sawing that log was even fun. Especially winning!!!!!!! :-) :-) :-)
CAMP WAS SO MUCH FUN. It was the best week of my life.
Camp was so much fun it was the best experience I've had. I made a new friend in Ms. Stolpestad's class, and I got to know some people in the class better. Even though there was drama was drama in the cabin, the cabin of Fern still rocked and I had fun. The classes were fun I learned a lot of stuff that was really interesting. I had fun on the night-hike looking at all the stars, and some constellations. The food was delicious and I had fun talking with Ethan he's funny. Skit Night was so much fun I liked going in my pj's I was very comfortable. The "Nerd Herd" as they like to call themselves had an amazing skit SI-FI MacBeth was really funny, especially the witches part. Everybody's skit was really funny. I also liked Skit-Night the music, the questions, and all the entertainment was nice. Well I had a lot of fun CALVIN CREST WAS AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!!! There is soo much I loved about camp and I'm not sure what to say so i'll say most everything. For me camp was all about being in the outdoors, being with friends and just sort of growing up while getting away from home. I really enjoyed all of the fun sing alongs every night along with our night activities.During cabin time I really enjoyed being a crazy cabin. Throughout the week I got to know everyone in my cabin alot better and by the end of the week we were all alot more open and comfortable with each other.I also enjoyed seeing everyone come out of their shell a little bit, by the end of the week we were all singing the wishy washy washer woman in FF(dynamic)at shower time.In the end this expierience has been one of my best and I will always rememberit.
ReplyDeleteThere is a ton of things I absolutely lllloooovvveeeddd about camp. First of all the classes were amazing, I really enjoyed the long lasting hikes, and I learned sooooo much about Nature. My favorite classes were Survival and Orientering. I really enjoyed Orientering because first of all Ms. Ullner was teaching it which made it so much more awsome (and creative), secondly the story of the aliens and "Fake Calvin Crest" was hilarious and made the whole thing more energetic and thrilling. I liked Survival because we just learned how to live out in the wild in case of an emergency, and there were great times for teamwork and having fun with new friends. I got to learn more about people who I have never even met when we were assigned to our meal tables. I only new one person at that table but I made more friends with the other people (even though we did not talk alot:)) but when we did talk we really enjoyed our meal time. Skit night and Quiz Show night were the nights I got a little.... lets say, out of the ordinary. I was cracking up and dancing and talking ( more like shouting except at Skit night I was not)and jumping and singing and goining in a Conga line and etc........Well you saw me!!!! Always after singing in the lounge I felt at peace and I wondered why other people were still jumpy and loud but I just walked back silently to my cabin and enjoyed the night sky and night views. I was surprised that I did not get Homesick (sadly other people did). During Free Time I eenjoyed the boats and the rockwall etc. but I figured that I really just enjoyed talking with friends on the deck behind the Dining Hall. I know I'll remember this momment (well week) and I will look back at this and remember what a great time and what great friends and classmates I have. I love CALVIN CREST and I love the WORLD !!!!!!! Thank you Calvin Creast!
ReplyDeleteI HAD SOOO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite part had to be Skit-Night or the Quiz Show even though we had to wash dishes. I loved seeing all of the different skits and aswering all of those creative questions. IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOMP!!!!!!!!!!( p as in Posiden) I can't think of one thing!!!! Well I think my favorite part of camp was being with my besties allllllllll week. Sure, it was a long time to be away from home and a lot of time being with your "bff's" I thought this time at camp was amazing! I 'd never been to sleep away camp before and although we were still learning all week, I had the best time ever! Like I said hangin' with my friends was so fun. We were already great friends but showertime/every other time we were in the cabin together, made us all so much closer. Although this meant I would have to say goodbye for TWO weeks to my friends in the remaining half of the sixth grade this gave me the oppertunity to reunite with old friends, maybe some I never considerd a friend before. Thank you so much Malichi!!! Without you our meals would have been a complete drag. With Hope and me accidently flinging our food all over the room we were sure to make you laugh! I could go on and on talking about table H's meals and entertainment but I'm afraid only my tablemates would understand. I totolly wish that I could go there as like a bording school or something!!! No really someone, wher do I sign up? Speacial thanks to the entire staff at Calvin Crest and my part-time roommates. That includes Mrs. Mrkaich. To the Wishy Washy Washer Women!!!!!:-)
ReplyDeleteCamp 2010
Oh ya..... We were supposed to be learning. Well I really can't choose a favoeite class. All of them were super-awesomenessful!!! Free time was su[per-awe...... well you get the picture. I think my favorite part of freetime was hangin' with my buds. It was over so fast, we already past the carnival, it's almost like I just notices that I'm in sixth grade. Thanx again to the camp staff and my Violet family!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had the greatest time ever. It was so much fun just hanging out with all my friends. My favorite day was Wensday, skit night. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Our cabin had some challenges but over all I had so much fun with the other girls in our cabin. Singing at the end of the day was fun too. the songs were interesting and exciting. My favorite night activitie that we did before singing was the night hike. I learned a lot of cool stuff that I didn't know. The people that worked there were awesome they were nice and funny. My favorite free time activitie was the rock wall. Throughout the enntire week I had an awesome time doing everything and spending time with everyone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Zoe. (Well, everyone really) Meals were a bunch of fun! The food was great, the classes were a lot of fun(educational, too), free time activities were oober exciting, and I really enjoyed shower time, but my favorite part was either skit night(Lady McVader, you amuse me)or loggers jamboree. I really got to know the girlies in Fern, and even others outside of our wonderful cabin! Mrs. VanderVelde was the most AMAZING cabin leader ever!!!!! Wearing PJ's down to dinner was fun! (I honestly didn't realize how weirdly people look at you when you are prancing around camp in jammies) Quiz Show night was a lot of fun, and it was a great recap of everything we learned all week. Singing Thursday night at dinner was fun, and I FINALLY figured out who sent me those packages! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite class was either Survival, Group Initiatives, or Orienteering. They were all fun!!!!! The Group class was really great- It had me thinking differently than usual. I really liked building the fire, and our team's actually worked!!!!!
Calvin Crest 2010 was truly a meaningful experience, and if I would go back, I most definitely would!!!!!!!!!!
***Note to Zoe and Malachi----
ReplyDeleteMeals were hilarious- whether we were launching food or attempting(and succeeding)to make Malachi laugh, they definitely were not excitementless!!!!!!!!!!!
It was loads of fun. My favorite part was archery but the lines were very long. I got to level 5 on the rock wall. I also enjoyed story time 9especially the pink gorilla).
ReplyDeleteCamp was the best week of fun in my entire life. The free time was reeeeaaaalllyyy fun I finished all six of the rockwalls and even though I hurt my knee on one of the walls it was an amazing expearience.I also enjoyed the zipline because when you got a good start and take off if you closed your eyes it felt like you were flying. The classes were also fun. Out of all the classes my favorites were the survival and orienteering classes.I really enjoyed survival because you got to learn how to built a shelter and make one.The best part of the survival class was making fire it was so fun, the group that I was in(Duncan,Kate,Isabelle,Ethan and I)made the longest lasting fire but in the end the sticks weren't catching so it went out.Orienteering was fun because you had to find all the colored papers and get your code word and next coordinates.Quiz night and Skit night were my favorite after dinner activates it was fun to show what you know, and dance at quiz night and it was really fun to watch all of the skits espescally the"nerd herds".Most of all I liked getting to know the other members of the Violet cabin. I never knew how nice Zoe was and how crazy madeline could be. This was a very memorable and fun experiance.
ReplyDeleteEven though I got a sore throat singing with Mckay in the shower, camp was awesome!!! Logger's Jamboree was sooo cool, even though I only did the log pulling.... My favorite part of camp was skit night. The "Nerd Herd's" skit was by far the best of all. My cabin played mafia during shower time "When I was the mafia, I always pointed to Mckay". At camp I really enjoyed hanging out with my friends and wearing Zoe's green hat thing or whatever people call them.
ReplyDeleteEven though i got sick and had to leave, the first three days were awesome! I really enjoyed playing mafia in the cabin and some of the courses were really cool. I thought the course where we had t get a hanging rope and swing across was the best. My favorite part about camp was skit night, there were alot of good skits. My three days at camp were the best!
ReplyDeleteMY favorit was the boat, but it was hard to stear the boat.
ReplyDelete: )
I especially loved shower time. It was nice to just chill with my fellow nerds and rehearse our skit. Our shower time on thursday was weird thi=ough, because we were so usedto rehearsing and skit night was over. Mr. Dueck was an awesome chaperone, and he had experience, so we had heads up about the skit and started to rehearse monday. All in all, it was a very fun trip.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could have gone. It seemed like fun, but I had lots of fun with the 3rd graders in room 20! My favorite part about my week was when Malcolm changed his blog, made a post, made a slideshow, and made a link to youtube for a music video! I love him! But I am glad that you guys are back. I nealy cried when the class left for camp without me. You guys are the best!
ReplyDeleteI loved camp it was so fun the best part was being in a cabin with my friends and my dad. i had so much fun!
ReplyDeleteCamp was very fun in several ways. One was the fact AT LEAST WE WENT ON HIKES. I guess I don't mind as much any more that they weren't far. The part that I liked best was being able to stay there for a whole week. The part I liked next in line was the food. It was exceptionally good, especially compared to the lunch that we have at Manchester. the part i liked least was the temperature. I was really hoping it would be a lot colder than it was. I am very grateful I was able to go, because I realize that not very many students in the world. I give my thanks to everyone who helped to do it. I didn't exactly dislike or like shower-time, but I wouldn't be at all happy if we didn't get shower-time.
ReplyDeleteYes Caden, its called a hat.
