Four things that I learned and found interesting were how and why the Egyptians created the pyramids, what Gods and Goddesses they worshipped, their belief of how the world was created, and what their temples looked like.
Something that I didn't know about the gods and godess' were that the people mainly worshpped them so that everything in their control would go smoothly.Another thing that was interesting to me was that people placed small people figures called shabtis in tombs thinking that they would act like sevrents in the afterlife to the deceased.
I also learned that in Egypt, jewelery was important because if it is showed on the dead/alive then it meant that the person was very wealthy. In ancient Egypt there were schools alot like ours except they were just for scribes and if they did not do their work the teacer would punish them!
Ppl made mudbricks for homes in the villages. I found the pharaohs to be cool, how it was the powerful humen beside the great gods and goddes. The pharaohs would have gone to war to get more land.
One thing that I learned on the Ancient Egypt website is that the anciet egyptians were polytheistic. Polytheistic means they believed in many gods. One of the major gods was the sun god, Ra or Re. The beginning of the world, according to Ancient Egypt, was started by gods. They killed each others and sent one god down to the underworld. This site was very interesting.
I learned that pharoahs had tombs called Mastabas and pyramids were 200 feet tall. Tere are 80 pyramids in Egypt and the pharoahs are sometimes called "The Lord of Two Lands".
I learned that the pyramids were 200 feet tall. I also learned that if the dead person had jewelry by them then that symbolizes that they were rich in the afterlife. I also found out that pharaoh means "Great House." Another thing I learned is that there are over 80 pyramids in Egypt!
I learned about the Egyptian creation story. It's actually A little related to the Greeks creation story. Both start with chaos, then out of chaos comes a god(s). I also learned that both the Greeks and Egyptian gods both stood for something like animals or air or the sun. WOW!
I never knew that the ancient Egyptians occasionally combined two of their gods to create a new god (Ra + Horus= Ra-Horakhty). Secondly, I learned that there are six parts to an Egyptian temple: the pylon, the courtyard, the hypostyle hall, the second hall, the sanctuary, and the sacred lake. Thirdly, I always thought Egyptian homes would be papyrus huts, but they were actually mudbrick. Finally, I found it interesting that Egypt has "Red (desert) and Black (fertile)" land.
I learned that every temple was dedicated to a god or goddess. I also learned that the three most perserved pyramids were built in Giza and there are about eighty pyrimids. It probaly took a long time to make pyramids with stone blocks that weigh about two tons! I found it intresting on how the Egyptians learned how to preserve bodies, or mummies. They learned from burrying the mummies in holes and now the mummies still have skin and hair.
The things I found interesting were their tools, architecture, creation story, and who or what they worshiped. I think this particular study is very interesting and I do look forward to studying more.
I learned on my trip to Egyt that their are about 80 pyramids. The word pyramid comes from the Greek word "pyraims" which means "wheat cake". Wheat cake was a cake with a pointing top. I also learned that the Rosetta Stone had three diferent types of languages/writing on it: hieroglyphic, demotic, Greek. hieroglyphic was created in 3100 B.C. The Assyrians attaked Egypt in 700 B.C.
-I leard that there were many steps to macking a mummy - that they made many changes to bairial site - it is green along the nile river -pirimads were for bairial not for looks
What I found interesting Bes,the god that protects pregnant woman and newborn babies and Anubis, the god who watches the processs of mummification.Something that caught my eye were the drawings of the god.A wierd thing was that they put food and drinks in the tombs.

They put these things in the tomb called shabits and they were believed to travel to the afterlife and be the persons servant. There are about 80 pyramids.
-Pyramids were over 250 feet tall -Egyptians worshipped many gods, such as Re, Horus and Sobek -Over 80 pyramids in Egypt -If an Egyptian had jewelry, then that was a symbol of wealth
